Wellington Shire Council is the third largest municipality in Victoria and are taking large and small actions within Council and out in the community, to work towards a sustainable future. The environment has been recognised as a key strategic area to achieve its visions for the Wellington Shire.
The Project
After a competitive tender process, Council awarded Bruce Energy with the preparation of a pre-feasibility on the integration of renewable energy for Wellington Shire. The project required a mix of on-site data gathering, stakeholder interviews as well as desktop analysis tasks.
Role
Bruce Energy delivered its findings in a comprehensive pre-feasibility report focussing on opportunities to reduce emissions and increase profitability in the areas of electricity and heat generation and usage.
Outcome
The report was very well received by Wellington Shire Council and related stakeholders such as the LaTrobe Valley Authority. Jointly with Council, Bruce Energy is currently evaluating actions following on from the study.
Bruce Energy had a holistic approach to the study and looked at all possible outcomes.
