Barney started his engineering career with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Monash University in Melbourne, and before long, he was working for a range of top-tier Engineering companies in Europe.

He became an integral part of the power plant design and analysis teams at AREVA, Siemens and Alstom, and developed the highly advanced skills that now benefit Bruce Energy’s clients.

His technical skills range from detailed thermal-hydraulic component design through to overall power and process plant modelling, configuration and operational strategy development, detailed definition and troubleshooting of plant logic, and financial analysis.

The most important thing he developed over the years, however, was a systematic approach to innovation that enabled him to come up with out-of-the-box engineering solutions, most other engineers simply wouldn’t have thought of.

When he returned to Australia, he used his knowledge to help a small start-up, Vast Solar, and then it was time to launch his own business.
