Project Scale

Test Facility, Industrial Scale

Role

Concept Design; Cost Indication; Detailed Design; EPC-M during procurement, construction and commissioning

The Client

Green Gravity repurposes disused mines for green energy storage. Radically accelerating the transition to clean energy. Green Gravity’s technology raises and lowers heavy weights in a mine shaft to capture and release the gravitational energy of the weights.

The Project

Green Gravity partnered up with BlueScope Steel to develop and operate The Gravity LabTM, a purpose-built gravitational research facility, designed to obtain high-resolution performance data from the proprietary gravitational energy storage systems.

Role

Bruce Energy was initially engaged on the conceptual design and costing of the Test Facility. Subsequently, Bruce Energy acted as the EPC-M on Green Gravity’s behalf during the procurement, construction and commissioning phase of The Gravity LabTM.

Outcome

Bruce Energy delivered The Gravity LabTM on time and on budget, jointly with its partner organisations. The Gravity LabTM was launched in July 2023 with numerous politicians and high-profile customers attending.

case-study

"Working with Bruce Energy to apply proven design capability and smart technology has enabled Green Gravity to optimise its gravitational energy system - key in scaling commercial operations and a real market differentiator"
